Holly Jolly July! Can you believe Christmas is only six months away? 

I recently read that putting up holiday decorations early can actually make you more cheerful – I think I’ll go ahead and bust out my twinkle lights now. My colleagues at Omaha Performing Arts will LOVE that! 

One thing’s for sure – listening to Christmas carols instantly lift the spirits. I’ve hit play on my favorite holiday playlist to help me create this very merry guide to OPA’s holiday shows. If July seems too early for roasted chestnuts over an open fire, no worries – the first show on my list doesn’t land until November 29. But it’s a hot one…




If you’ve always dreamed of spending the holidays on the beach…
Yes, this November we’re turning up the heat for the holidays. To 98 Degrees, to be exact. This uber popular boy band melted hearts across America in the late 1990s and early 2000s with hits such as “Because of You,” “I Do” and “The Hardest Thing.”

All the original members – Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre – are reuniting for their Christmas tour. I don’t know about you, but I’m really hoping for coordinated outfits and lots of dancing. Feel free to join me front row, center living out my preteen self’s best life. 




If you’d like to have yourself a jazzy little Christmas…
We love jazz at Omaha Performing Arts. We’ve been trying for years to bring Grammy-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz to our stages. Scheduling finally worked out and, guess what? He’s bringing some friends, too! 

He’s made a tradition of getting together with his artist pals, who also happen to be renowned jazz artists, to celebrate the holidays with an evening of all that holiday music that gives you the warm and fuzzies. 




If you want to start a family tradition … 
The best part of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical is seeing parents and grandparents share the holiday classic with the little ones in their life. We presented this show in 2016/2017 and it was such a family favorite, we knew Rudolph needed to fly back to town this season. The show brings the TV special to life on stage and – even though I’m nearly 30, I’m not embarrassed to admit – it’s magical.
