Tomorrow is the first day of fall. Can I get a “woohoo”?
If you’re like me, you busted out your flannels and stocked up on pumpkin spice everything weeks ago. But tomorrow, we can all sip our Pumpkin Spice Lattes without judgement.
Fall is a magical time of year, and at Omaha Performing Arts, it’s when our venues come to life with extraordinary entertainment. For this edition of OPA Roundup, I’ve asked my colleagues to chime in with the fall shows they’re most looking forward to. After all, we love the arts and get just as excited as you do about upcoming performances.
Here are the shows we’re “falling” for!
The Decemberists, October 1
“I was first in line to buy VIP tickets to the Decemberists show. I saw them the last time that they played at the Holland Center about seven years ago, before I worked here, and it was easily a top five concert for me. I’m so excited to see them in the Kiewit Hall again.” – Curt, IT
iLuminate, October 6
“My family is so excited to see iLuminate! My 9-, 12- and 14-year-old think this is the perfect show for all of us! We can’t wait to see how iLuminate transforms into a glow-in-the dark combination of storytelling, great dance technique and pulse-pounding music. We’re expecting the ultimate Omaha family dance fest!” – Ryan Rhodes, Group Sales
OK GO! THE LIVE VIDEO TOUR, October 19
“The one that is most surprising to me is OK Go! Since I was younger, I have been so intrigued by the creativity and sheer brilliance of their music videos. I mean, who comes up with this kind of stuff?! Having the opportunity to see them live while their music videos play in real time will be so much fun. I can’t wait to hear about how they came up with the ideas for each one. I hope to see everyone there rocking out and being as amazed as me!” - Taylor, Community Engagement
RAY LAMONTAGNE, October 22
“One of the shows I am most excited about this fall is Ray LaMontagne … His music and voice are incredible. Those paired with the incredible acoustics and atmosphere of the Holland will make for an unforgettable night.” - Charlie, Programming
THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, October 30-November 4
“I’m looking forward to seeing THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG. Not only was it a hit in London & NYC, but watching a show where things spin hilariously out of control just sounds like a lot of fun. I’m all for getting more comedy and laughs into my life.” - Cindy, Office Administration
“I’m really looking forward to THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG. It looks like a fun approach and the comedic style should be entertaining. The trailer at the Season Reveal hooked me and now I am avoiding knowing more so it will be a surprise.” – Casey, IT
