3 FUN FACTS: Air Play

Posted On Mar 12, 2019, 14:34 PM by Courtney Mattern
Two performers hold a huge white piece of fabric that billows high above their heads.

Flying umbrellas, larger-than-life balloons, giant kites floating over the audience! We can't wait for Air Play to breeze into the Orpheum Theater this weekend. This family-friendly performance brings to life the very air we breathe.

Here are 3 fun facts, so you can get to know the show before you go!

1. Wordless Wonder
The creators of the show and husband and wife duo, Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone, started out with a mission to create a wordless show, that anyone can enjoy. Air Play has now been performed on five continents and seen by over 150,000 people.

2. World Travelers
Show creators Bloom and Gelsone are both successful international performers. The two have traveled around the world and even met at a circus in Afghanistan, were engaged while street performing in Scotland and got married in China. The show combines their passion for street performance with beautiful circus-like visuals!

3. Something for Everyone

Sensory-friendly resources will be available in the lobby for our patrons on the autism spectrum, and individuals with other sensory sensitivities. These resources will include a sensory toolkit, a sensory corner, and social stories that will be available to be checked out ahead of the show to help explain what to expect before attending the show. If you're interested in learning more about sensory-friendly seating and resources, email Dominic Green at DGreen@OmahaPerformingArts.org.
