WATCH: Building music skills and community with Musical Explorers

Another year of Musical Explorers is in the books!
Each year, we hold a year-end concert for the participating elementary students. Nearly 3,500 K-2 children from Omaha and Council Bluffs danced and sang along to the Mexican, West African and American folk songs they learned about this year.
I recently sat down with teachers to hear how the program is enriching the lives of their students. Watch the video to hear their stories.
Developed in partnership with Carnegie Hall, this program for grades K-2 builds musical skills in the classroom and teaches different music styles from the community. The lessons are curriculum-based, tying in school subjects teachers are already introducing in their classroom.
