It seems like as soon as Independence Day comes to a close, the school supply lists come out, pencils are sharpened and the new Paw Patrol backpack makes an appearance. The first day of school often hits like a ton of bricks, but before the family gets into a fall routine, you have time to plan some special family memories with us!
Our 2019-2020 season is full of outstanding titles; some of which will make for the perfect family date in downtown Omaha. Family time is an important aspect for any bunch, and as calendars fill up fast, you’ll be glad you carved out some time with the whole crew. Get the car seats loaded, sit back, relax and enjoy these family-friendly shows!
“Children of Metropolis” by Scrap Arts Music
Scrap Arts Music will be bringing their newest show — and their inventory of scrap metal, artillery shell and accordion part musical instruments — to the Holland Center! “Children of Metropolis” depicts a futuristic and sci-fi environment where the quintet shows off their gymnastics and musical skills. Just be warned: Your kiddos might want to play with your pots and pans when they get home.
Evening with ThePianoGuys
ThePianoGuys are returning to Omaha for another show of their unique hybrid tunes. Blending classical favorites with hit pop songs, these musicians have a repertoire made for everyone in the audience. You’ll come for the One Direction covers and stay for the Beethoven. At least, that’s my plan.
DRUMLine Live Holiday Spectacular
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer definitely marched to the tune of his own drum — and so does this show! Come experience an unforgettable performance that combines holiday classics with the sounds of gospel, jazz, soul and Motown rhythms under the heartbeat of a marching band.
Cirque Mechanics: 42 FT. A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels
Where’s Hugh Jackman? This might be the new Greatest Show. Cirque Mechanics will transport the whole family to a 1930s one-ring circus. Anticipate the feats of acrobatics, aerialists — and maybe a little clowning around. Usually you’d want to sink into your chair at the Orpheum, but this time, you’ll be at the edge of your seat.
National Geographic Live shows
National Geographic Live is an exciting series of educational lectures by real life explorers and adventurers. With three shows in the 19/20 series, you can subscribe for tickets as low as $11 per show! The series will kick off with Untamed with Filmmaker Filipe DeAndrade in March, so you have some time to catch up on your magazine reading and nature documentaries before then. Audience members can participate in a Q&A, so bring your curious kiddos along!
