for the popular summer concerts.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Omaha Performing Arts has canceled this season’s popular free summer concert series Jazz on the Green at Midtown Crossing in Turner Park. The annual six-concert series, held on Thursdays in July and August, brings more than 50,000 people to midtown Omaha.
“It was a very difficult decision. We understand how disappointing this announcement will be to the thousands of Omahans looking forward to Jazz on the Green,” said O-pa President Joan Squires. “However, our priority is the health and safety of our audiences and artists. Because the concerts attract such large crowds, we believe it’s the responsible decision. Be assured we will return again next summer!”
Omaha Performing Arts is making plans to continue concerts online via a free live stream, so people may enjoy them from the safety of their own homes and backyards. O-pa will have more information available in May.
The online concerts will join a growing digital line-up of experiences and activities presented by O-pa. Twice-weekly live performances, student master classes, activities for children and families and more continue as Omaha Performing Arts creates new and engaging digital arts and entertainment opportunities during the pandemic.
