Jazz on the Green at Midtown Crossing grooves again tonight with The Big Takeover! Here’s 3 fun facts about the band, so you can get to know them better before the show. The park opens at 5 PM with preshow jams at 6:30 PM and the main act at 7:30 PM.

1. They deliver a fresh take on reggae
The band hails from New York’s musically hoppin’ mid-Hudson Valley. Traditional and experimental, the band blends Jamaican pop sounds, world music and the soulful energy of Motown.

2. Jamaican-born NeeNee Rushie leads on vocals
At the center of this tight, grooving ensemble is the live-wire singing Rushie, a powerhouse performer who writes all the band’s songs such as “Love Understands,” which she wrote for their latest album “Silly Girl”.

3. They’ve shared the stage with notable artists
On the music scene for over a decade, the band has play more than 500 shows! They’ve taken the stage with The Original Wailers, Jefferson Starship, Eek-a-Mouse, the Slackers and more.
