ABOUT CAMILLE A. BROWN

CAMILLE A. BROWN & DANCERS blends modern, hip-hop, African, ballet and tap dance. Brown is an inventive and sought-after choreographer on Broadway. Her New York-based company tells stories of race and culture through movement. The performances connect history and today's culture to share deeply personal experiences. Strongly character-based, the pieces merge theater, poetry, visual art and music. 

Camille A. Brown is one of the most significant choreographers of her generation. She founded the Bessie Award-winning company in 2006. Her Broadway credits include the recent revival of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND and the live TV special JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Her work has also been commissioned by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and more. Brown is a Princess Grace Award winner, a Ford Foundation Art of Change Fellow, Jacob's Pillow Dance Award winner and Guggenheim Fellowship recipient.  

Omaha Performing Arts hosts CAMILLE A. BROWN & DANCERS on February 21, 2020, at the Orpheum Theater. 


ARTIST RESIDENCY EVENTS

SOCIAL DANCE COMMUNITY WORKSHOP with CAMILLE A. BROWN & DANCERS

February 20 | 6 - 7:30 PM

Holland Center

During this 90-minute dance workshop participants will learn social dances and their history. This workshop will be led by two company members and held at the Holland Performing Arts Center in the Scott Recital Hall. This workshop is open to the public for people of all ages and skill level. Registration due February 14, 2020.
