The blue barrels are back! Shine the Light on Hunger is happening now until December 30th!

It’s that time of year again where we partner with Conagra Brands and the rest of the Omaha community to participate in something truly special for Shine the Light on Hunger. And this year, more than ever, families in Nebraska and Iowa need our support.

Shine the Light on Hunger is a yearly food drive initiative to support the hunger relief efforts led by Food Bank for the Heartland. With your help, the goal is to reach the equivalent of 1.5 million meals! The Food Bank has experienced a 70% increase in the number of individuals served over the average and distributed 28.1 million meals in its most recent fiscal year – the most in its history, and an increase of 5.5 million meals since the prior year.

Ways to support:
If you are able to join us for one of our socially distant performances at the Holland Center this holiday season, we ask you to drop off any nonperishable items in the blue barrels stationed at the entrance.

Most-needed food items are:

  • Protein, such as peanut butter, beans, and canned tuna and chicken
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Pasta and Sauce
  • Cereal
  • Pancake Mix
  • Canned Fruits and Vegetables
  • Boxed Meals and Kid-Friendly Cans with Pull-Top Lids

If you can’t join us in person but would still like to help, simply text “FOOD” to 74121 or click here to give monetary donations.
