Community leader and arts advocate Carl G. Mammel recently retired from the Omaha Performing Arts Board of Directors after decades of guiding the growth of the organization. As one of the earliest members of the board and a passionate supporter of O-pa, he has been instrumental in helping to lead and develop the organization to ensure its success and contributions to the community.

Carl has been a generous donor, significantly supporting many initiatives including the original Holland Center capital campaign, Steelhouse Omaha and the upcoming Center for Arts Engagement. In 2016, in recognition for his special contributions, the Holland Center’s Mammel Courtyard was dedicated in his honor.

With a strong commitment to community, Carl has a significant interest in O-pa’s education and community engagement activities, especially as O-pa’s education programs continue to expand their reach across Nebraska and Iowa. He understands that providing greater education in music and the arts for children changes the lives of individuals and the wellbeing of entire communities.

Carl’s successful career as a visionary leader in the insurance and employee benefits industry enables him to give back and help so many others find success. He has received numerous awards and accolades over the years, including the Ak-Sar-Ben Court of Honor and the 2021 Walter Scott, Jr., Citizen of the Year award from the Boy Scouts of America.

Carl will continue to serve on the OPAS Foundation board. We at O-pa deeply appreciate his leadership, service and commitment to our mission.
