March 3 was a special celebration for our newest Disney Musicals in Schools participants at Longfellow, Bertha Barber, Nelson Mandela, and Calvert Elementary Schools! After 17 weeks of learning how to put on a musical and performing at their schools, students performed songs from Aladdin KIDS, Winnie the Pooh KIDS, and The Lion King KIDS for family and loved ones on the Holland stage.
Disney Musicals in Schools is a long-running O-pa education program developed in partnership with Disney Theatrical Group. By providing resources and support for teachers, it builds sustainable musical theater programs in public elementary schools throughout Omaha, Council Bluffs, Lincoln, and surrounding communities. O-pa teaching artists help teachers learn how to produce, direct, choreograph, and music direct their first school show, culminating in the Student Share each spring.
