Connecting students & educators to Broadway

The Nebraska Theater Academy is a comprehensive education program building practical and equitable pathways to careers in the arts and developing life skills for middle and high school students. Participating schools receive opportunities for master classes with Broadway artists, performance opportunities, professional feedback on school productions, a chance to represent Nebraska at the Broadway League’s national Jimmy Awards, and so much more.

Participate

High schools and middle schools of any size and experience level are invited to participate in the Nebraska Theater Academy and receive resources and learning opportunities for their students.

Adjudication

Participating schools have the opportunity for up to three local performing arts professionals to provide educationally focused written feedback on their school performances.

The program offers a variety of learning opportunities throughout the year, including in-person and virtual master classes with Broadway artists, backstage workshops, and more.

Awards Showcase

The Nebraska Theater Academy celebrates the outstanding achievements of participating schools with awards for top performers, excellence behind the scenes, and more during the annual Tony Awards® style Showcase event presented by Omaha Performing Arts.

National Jimmy Awards

Each year, two outstanding student performers (one lead actor and one lead actress) are nominated for the Broadway League’s National Musical Theatre Awards in New York City, where they receive coaching, master classes, and the chance to perform on a Broadway stage.

Registration is open and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration fee for an entire year of opportunities is just $135. Discounted fee rates are available for schools demonstrating financial need.
