O-pa recently launched the new venue experience to create a place where audiences can discover their next favorite performer and artists can build momentum, connect with fans, and grow their careers.
The room itself isn’t new. Scott Hall inside the Holland Center has hosted hundreds of intimate club shows, including the 1200 Club and Holland Music Club series. O-pa is building on that legacy with a fresh identity and a renewed vision for how we can serve aspiring local bands and emerging artists.
“We’ve been thrilled with the success of Steelhouse Omaha over the last three years, and our community has shown a sustained desire for that type of concert experience, where you can grab a drink and take in some great music with your family and friends,” said Erika Hansen, O-pa’s VP of Commercial Entertainment. “Matchbox will offer the same type of experience but in an even more intimate setting. We’re excited to welcome a wider variety of emerging artists and rising stars to the space.”
Primarily a standing-room-only club concert space with a capacity of 727 people, Matchbox will welcome a diverse range of genres, from indie, rock, country, and pop to R&B, metal, and EDM. Whether you’re discovering a promising new artist or catching a fast-rising performer before they break into larger venues, Matchbox is designed to make every show feel personal.
“Healthy music communities thrive because they have venues of every size. Club rooms like Matchbox are an essential part of the ecosystem, and communities known as music destinations always have a robust club scene.
