Yesterday (Nov. 10), O-pa welcomed over 150 Nebraska High School Theater Academy (NHSTA) students to the Holland Center for the first in-person learning opportunity of the season — a Q&A with HAMILTON ensemble member John Devereaux! Between this session and two virtual master classes on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, over 650 students had a chance to learn outside the classroom with some of their favorite characters from the groundbreaking show.

This isn’t the first time Nebraska High School Theater Academy students have had a special learning opportunity from Broadway stars — and it certainly won’t be the last! It’s just part of O-pa’s mission to connect students across the state with transformational experiences through the performing arts.

In 2019, nearly 200 students and teachers traveled from 34 different schools across Nebraska (even as far as Grand Island and Kearney) to participate in an acting master class led by HAMILTON actor Marcus John and a musical theater audition workshop led by Elijah Malcomb (who played John Laurens/Philip Hamilton).

NHSTA registration is still open and accepted on a rolling basis. Connect your students to Broadway! All school sizes and experience levels welcome.
