LADAMA

July 16, 2020

With rhythm, percussion and powerful vocals driving their original compositions, LADAMA delivers an utterly unique musical experience blending Latin American musical roots with soulful pop. LADAMA is a group of four women, virtuosic musicians, and educators -- Lara Klaus (Brazil), Daniela Serna (Colombia), Mafer Bandola (Venezuela) and Sara Lucas (United States)— that harness the music from their respective countries of origin to produce Latin Alternative music. Their music flows from the electric to the acoustic, from Spanish to English and Portuguese, and from the high plains of Venezuela to the Colombian coast. As well as performing, the women help build communities, empower women and strive to engage youth in their respective communities in the process of music-making, composition and audio production through collaboration and performance workshops. Their art proves that borders are meaningless, transporting us to a future where the world communicates across continents and cultures, through sound and story.

What can we bring?

That's a great question - you can bring whatever you want! Typically we recommend blankets, chairs, sunscreen, bug spray, beer and wine and pets if they're leashed. But, since we're celebrating in our own spaces this summer - make your set up the set up of your dreams! Want to put a tent in your yard to lounge in while you watch? Have at it. Fire pit? Sure thing (safety first please!) Let the pets run lose, whip up a batch of ice cold margaritas and forget the shoes - we're all about comfort first right now.

What happens if it rains?

We recommend you keep those electronic streaming devices bone dry, but hey, if you like the summer rain, enjoy it. The show will go on.

At Midtown Crossing, no, you may not. In your own yard, that's up to you!
