We are ringing in the New Year with magic, adventure and more! Here’s just a few things we’re looking forward to as we kick off another year at Omaha Performing Arts.

1. A magical start to the year with Disney’s ALADDIN
January 16-27

Broadway grants our wishes in 2019 when Disney’s ALADDIN soars into Omaha for the first time. The show brings the 1992 film to life on the Orpheum stage beginning January 16, and we can’t wait. The production includes favorite elements from the movie including the music, the genie, the flying carpet, the love story – but with a little extra magic.

2. Night club vibes at the 1200 Club
Series starts again January 25

Have you visited the 1200 Club at the Holland Center? Make it a New Year’s goal! The intimate concert series transforms the Scott Recital Hall into a cozy nightclub. You’ll enjoy table service – just call your server with a blue light at your candle lit table – delicious cocktails and, of course, amazing music.

This month we have two up-close shows in the 1200 Club. Chicago’s Sidewalk Chalk combines R&B and jazz in an upbeat performance on January 25. The next time, we jam with celebrated jazz guitarist Dave Stryker, one of Omaha’s own!

3. Inspiring music at Damien Sneed’s Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
February 14

The words and actions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. inspired a generation of artists! We can’t wait for this incredible concert by producer Damien Sneed. We’ll celebrate Dr. King through the music of Aretha Franklin, Duke Ellington, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and more. Also exciting – Omaha’s Salem Baptist Church choir will join the touring artists on stage to perform traditional and modern gospels.

4. Adventures with National Geographic Live
Series starts February 19

The National Geographic Live speaker series returns to deliver thrilling tales directly from the daring explorers photographers who capture them for National Geographic magazine. If you’ve attended the series, you know just how captivating these speakers are. First up is Social by Nature with photographer Ronan Donovan. The biologist turned photographer will share his stories about documenting wild chimps and other mammals and what humans can learn from these animals.
