The history of jazz in Omaha

Since our April blog about Jazz Appreciation Month, O-pa’s IDEA committee has been busy fine-tuning our strategic plan, hosting a book club, attending virtual expos and exploring ways to support and participate in the community’s IDEA initiatives.

IDEA committee members had the opportunity to connect with Eric Ewing, Executive Director of the Great Plains Black History Museum for a “lunch and learn” on the topic of the history of jazz in Omaha.

Mr. Ewing was kind enough to share his wisdom about Omaha’s jazz history, notable names who played here, interesting facts about former jazz venues and much more. The presentation was recorded, and you can watch it here:
