OMAHA PERFORMING ARTS

Our Jazz on the Green at Midtown Crossing summer concert series brings jazz performers from all over — but the preshow performances are all local! Local artists and student groups will take the stage at each show before the main act. Get to know these talented individuals who are giving audiences a taste of the local jazz music scene!

Reminder! Turner Park opens for seating at 5. The preshow jams start at 6:30 and the main act takes the stage at 7:30. 




B.E.D. Trio
July 11 before Big Sam’s Funky Nation
Above all else, this trio of musicians emphasizes collaboration. Each song is composed by one of the members and played by all. Come see their fusion of gospel, funk, electronic—and of course, jazz.


Us and Them Blues Band
July 18 before The Original Pinettes Brass Band
Comprising of 10 talented members, Us and Them Blues Band is entirely made of students with ages ranging from 12 to 18. They were selected to play the 2017 and 2019 International Blues Festival Youth Showcase as part of the Blue Society of Omaha’s youth BluesEd program. Together they’ve continued playing local festivals, venues, and even benefits to help raise money.


The Redwoods
July 25 before Paa Kow and his Afro-fusion Orchestra
Once again, young Omaha area musicians will be taking the stage. With ages ranging from 14 to 17, these young performers individually boast impressive musical backgrounds, but together they’re even better. Guests can expect to see The Redwoods playing a mix of classic rock, funk and traditional blues. Like the Us and Them Blues Band playing the week prior, The Redwoods are also part of BluesEd program.

UNO Jazz Combo I
August 1 before Big Wade and The Black Swan Theory
As one might assume from the name, UNO Jazz Combo I is compromised of music students from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. These students are no strangers to jazz festivals, and they typically do several public performances each semester.


Alexis Robles
August 8 before Marcos & Sabor
Latin, pop, jazz — Alexis Robles tackles them all. Born in Omaha, she’s been playing guitar, violin and singing since she was 7 years old. Robles performs bilingually in both Spanish and English. With performances across the country and beyond, Robles is on her way to taking on the English and Spanish music industries.





Westside Jazz Combo I
August 15 before Darcy Malone and The Tangle
Westside High School’s jazz talent all in one place. What more could a local jazz fan ask for? These students will put on a performance well above the average high school level, and they even create some of their own music.
