On Aug. 26, 2022, we celebrated the hundreds of volunteers that help our patrons have extraordinary experiences at shows and private events at the Holland Center and Orpheum Theater. The Ambassadors volunteered 48,000 hours at 672 events in the 21/22 season, greeting patrons, scanning tickets, finding seats and ensuring the show goes on! Board member Rodrigo López joined O-pa president Joan Squires and other O-pa staff in expressing gratitude to this dedicated group at the annual Ambassador Appreciation event at the Holland Center.

It was a particularly special celebration, because 12 months ago the venues were only just coming back to full-capacity events after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was thanks to the Ambassadors that O-pa was able to safely serve full houses in September, October and November, when many performing arts venues across the country were still barely operating.

Ambassadors help at a wide variety of events: everything from Omaha Symphony to indie band Rainbow Kitten Surprise. Three Ambassadors were recognized for Top Events Worked, volunteering at more than 120 events. In total, this groups efforts are valued at $1,449,880.

But the value of the Ambassadors' volunteerism is measured in more than just dollars. They make our patrons feel safe and welcome, keep the shows running smoothly and are the model of impeccable customer service. O-pa couldn't do what we do without them. Join us in saying thanks next time you see them at a show!
