We know — there is a lot going on. It’s hard to keep track of everything. When you do hear about a show or concert you’re interested in, you have to coordinate with your friend group or maybe plan a parents’ night out. There are budget decisions to make. It’s easier to splurge when it’s a performer you recognize (and there are plenty of those artists visiting our venues too!).

But there is also a whole other lineup of programming that Omaha Performing Arts plans each season. They aren’t shows that typically sell out, but that’s not why we bring them. They are endlessly valuable to our mission as a nonprofit arts organization with a passion to connect people to the arts.

Shows handpicked to change your life

No, we’re not being overdramatic. Our mission is to bring you the highest quality arts and entertainment experiences at our world-class venues and to create learning opportunities and community connections that extend far beyond the stage.

Our programming team literally handpicks a lineup of performances based completely on their potential to spark discovery, conversation, and transformation.

Sometimes they are local or emerging artists on the verge of blowing up. Sometimes they’re a fresh take on a classic — like Ghostbusters in Concert, where a live orchestra takes the film to a whole other level. Most often, they are arts and culture events you’d never encounter unless we shared them with you.

O-pa’s job is to be your guide to discover amazing new experiences.

“My work and my calling is to find the most moving, powerful, extraordinary art happening around the world today, and bring it to our community,” explains Andy Cassano, O-pa Vice President of Programming & Education.

Because these performances aren’t selected for financial returns, the door is open for endless possibilities. Music, dance, acrobats, circus arts — there is so much room to experiment and inspire. The performing arts celebrate different perspectives, share stories, make people feel seen, and challenge us to imagine new ways of being human together.

With such a wide variety of performances, we decided we needed a new way to invite people into our venues to take a chance on something outside their comfort zone.

For one all-in price of $99, you can explore 10+ of these special shows in the 26/27 season at the Holland Center and Orpheum Theater. That’s the cost of two nights out for an entire year of discovery. You’ll get the best available seating for shows that will make you want to jump up for a standing ovation.

The Standing ‘O’ Pass makes it easy to let curiosity get the best of you. Once you purchase the pass, eligible tickets are delivered digitally before each performance, giving you the flexibility to attend the events that fit your schedule.
