Omaha Wolf Trap is a new partnership between O-pa and Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, bringing arts-based learning to early childhood classrooms in Omaha. The first week-long, in-school residency ran Oct. 2–6 at Kellom and Conestoga Elementary Schools.
Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artists worked with pre-K students and teachers, creating lessons that integrate music, dance, theatre, puppetry, and storytelling to advance:
- Cognitive and social-emotional development
- Communication and relationship skills
- Connection to STEM
- Literacy and language skills
The program will begin in the Omaha Public Schools and gradually expand to other communities. It provides virtual and in-person classroom residencies, professional development workshops and family workshops tailored to the community’s needs. Through engaging activities like song, movement, play and music, Omaha Wolf Trap will empower educators to incorporate arts-based learning into their instruction for preschool and kindergarten children.
